In a delightfully superficial turn, I found a site that allows you to do personal makeovers with their software. Having had a long day the day before, I decided to go through the lighthearted exercise of making myself feel pretty. So I found a picture that didn't have any makeup on and was a pretty normal shot of my face and went to work.
I'm going to let it speak for itself.

Interestingly enough, there wasn't really a way to do anything besides what I did. I played around with various shades of lipstick and eyeshadow, but found that all of them made my face look suspiciously like that of a child who stumbled into her mother's makeup drawer and went to town. Don't get me wrong, I found myself heartwarming and adorable, but I don't think that's what Mary Kay was going for.
I was definitely the kind of distraction I was hoping for. I also found that despite being in terrible shape and less attractive than I've been at other times in my life, I was able to enjoy the makeover for what it was. And, in a weird way, I do think I look pretty in the after picture. Not, you know, normal, or anything.. but pretty. It was a cute thing of the day.
