As promised, here are some delightful photos of my first ever cake-baking experience.
I hid them. Because I can do that. It was fun.
Jihan explained the importance of getting all your ingredients set up ahead of time for cake-making. The process goes a lot smoother and you can be sure you didn't forget anything.
Getting the batter the right consistency was of the utmost importance. Which is why it is utterly baffling to me that Jihan let me have so much control over the process.
After the cake itself was done, we had to make the frosting. That's Josephine's area of expertise.
In case anyone is wondering what I'm scooping... it was powdered sugar. Ya know what I love about powdered sugar? If you breath anywhere around it, you can taste it. Seriously. Its sugar dust. There's something very nifty about that.
Once the cake was in the oven and the frosting was made... it was time to play the waiting game. Not really. We mostly hung out and talked. Ya know, like normal people.
The cake looked and smelled beautiful. It seemed smart to step back and leave the artistry to the master once the cake was out of the oven.
And voila! My first cake, with a lot of help, of course.
See that piece of cake? It didn't last long.
